Ignite the Wind Equipping Ministries:
FASTING and PRAYERS
What Is Fasting?
Fasting is the voluntary abstinence from food for a spiritual purpose—an intentional practice that creates space to nourish your spirit and draw closer to God.
What Fasting Is Not
● Not a diet or a way to impress God
● Not a performance or religious obligation
● It is not about deprivation
Fasting With Intention (21 Days):
● Seek guidance from the Holy Spirit and listen to your body
● Consult with your doctor before beginning any fast
● Focus on heart posture and intimacy with God through prayer
● Allow this to be a sacred, personal time with the Lord
Key points to focus on:
✓ Connecting with God
✓ Renouncing control
✓ Acknowledgment
✓ Humility
✓ Prayer
✓ Forgiveness
✓ Repentance
✓ Reading and focusing on the Word (Scripture)
Key Recommendations to consider:
1. Based on: The Book of Daniel Chapter 10 verse 3 (NKJV)
a. Scripture states Daniel ate no pleasant food (bread, sweets),
no meat, or wine.
b. Consider this a guideline to form boundaries, not legalism.
2. Listen to Your Body: Avoid intense exercise; focus on rest and repair.
3. Mindful Eating: When you eat, focus on nutrient-dense, balanced meals to support overall health.
4. Spiritual Focus: Rooted in self-denial to create space for seeking the Lord, supported through prayer and meditation on Scripture.
5. Natural Rhythms: Aligning with circadian rhythms (eating during the day, resting digestion at night) is a key biological principle.
4 Types of Fasting Examples:
1. A water fast is up to one day and or extended days. Listen to your body!
2. Intermitting Fast : Abstain from food during first light of dawn until sunset, breaking the fast after the sun goes down
3. Daniel 21 Fast: Partial fast focused on whole, plant-based foods (fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds) while abstaining from meat, dairy, sugar, processed foods, yeast, coffee, tea, and alcohol, to draw closer to God, deepen spiritual focus, and
seek divine guidance. It's less about abstaining from food entirely and more about removing "choice" or & "pleasant" foods to focus on spiritual nourishment, prayer, and reflection.
4. Juice fast: a short-term diet where you only consume liquids primarily fruit and vegetable juices—while avoiding solid foods, often for 1 to 7 days
How long should I fast for?
● Be led by the Holy Spirit.
● There is no perfect number
● Listen to your body and don’t push yourself more than you have to
● Lastly, individuals taking medications consult your Doctor. This is important for your overall health. How should you properly break a fast?
● Begin by thanking God and giving Him glory for sustaining you through the fast.
● Close this time with personal prayer and reflection.
● If you have completed a water fast, consider breaking it gently with a light meal—such as broth, a smoothie, or a small salad—allowing your body time to read just.

Intimacy with God
Prayer:
Dear God, You are a good and faithful Father, always ready to bring me into Your presence. You are trustworthy and true to Your promises, and You love me unconditionally. Please forgive me for being distracted by the busyness of this world, for relying on my own understanding, and for going my own way. Forgive me for the
times I have been entitled, resentful, hurtful, or have pursued joy and fulfillment outside of You. Thank You for always keeping the door open for me to return, for never giving up on me, and for loving me through my pain, and wandering. Thank You for Your instruction, counsel, and the promise of Your joy and grace, which strengthen
me.
Worship His Name and say His name out loud
● Elohim (The Strong Creator)
● Jehovah Jireh (The Lord Will Provide)
● Jehovah Rapha (The Lord Who Heals)
● El Shaddai (God Almighty)
● Jehovah Shalom (The Lord Is Peace)
● Abba, Father (The Intimate One)
Heavenly Father, Mighty Creator, I worship You as Elohim, the One who spoke the universe into existence and holds all power and authority. I acknowledge Your sovereignty over creation and my life. Lord Who Provides, I bring You my worries and trust in Your faithful provision, believing You will meet all my needs today and in the
future according to Your riches in glory. Jehovah Rapha, my Healer, I come to You seeking healing and restoration for my Spirit, Soul, and body. God Almighty, my All-Sufficient One, I rest in Your abundance and confess that nothing is impossible for You. Lord of Peace, I ask that Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, would guard my heart and mind through every storm. Abba, Father, thank You for calling me Your beloved child and for the intimacy and grace You offer. I surrender my life into Your loving hands, trusting Your care, strength, and guidance in all things. In Jesus name, Amen.
Pray His Agenda First
Bible Verses: Jeremiah 29:11, Ephesians 2:10: Psalm 139:13-17, Romans 8:28, 1
Corinthians 2:9, Philippians 2:13
Heavenly Father, thank You for knowing the plans You have for me—plans to prosper me and not to harm me, to give me hope and a future. I praise You for making me Your masterpiece, created anew in Christ Jesus to do the good works You have prepared for me in advance. Thank You for intricately creating me with purpose, knowing me even before birth, and for Your countless thoughts towards me. Lord, I trust that in all things You work for my good, because I love You and am called according to Your purpose. Help me remember that what no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor human heart imagined, is what You have prepared for those who love You. Work in me, God, to will and to act according to Your good purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Engage in Spiritual Warfare (Breaking the Bonds of Wickedness):
Bible verses: Isaiah 58:6, Ephesians 6:10-18, James 4:7: 1 John 4:4, Isaiah 54:17, 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, and Psalm 91
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the mighty armor You provide—truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God—so I can stand firm against every scheme of the enemy. I submit myself to You, Lord, and resist the devil, trusting
that he will flee from me by Your power. Thank You, God, that the One who lives in me is greater than any force in this world. I claim Your promise that no weapon formed against me will prevail, and that I have authority to refute every tongue that rises against me in judgment. I take up the spiritual weapons you have given to demolish strongholds, loose the bonds of wickedness, undo heavy burdens, let the oppressed go free (me and/or family), including all yokes that need to be broken. I pray that every thought is taken captive in obedience to Christ. Thank You for Your divine protection
and refuge, as promised in Psalm 91. Cover me and my loved ones with Your safety and peace. In Jesus name, Amen.
Lost Sheep & God's Care:
Bible verses: Ezekiel 34:16, Luke 15:4-7, John 10:11,
Acts 26:18, Isaiah 53:6
Gracious Father, thank You for being the Good Shepherd who seeks the lost, binds up the broken, and strengthens the weak. I praise You for Your love that leaves the ninety-nine to find the one who has wandered. Thank You, Jesus, for laying down Your life for us, Your sheep, and for opening our eyes so we can turn from darkness to light and receive forgiveness of sins. I confess that, like sheep, we all have gone our own way and return back to your loving hands. Thank you, Jesus, for placing your life on the Cross of calvary and taking all our sins. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Depending on Him for everything
Bible verses: James 4:6-7 John 15:5, Proverbs 3:5-6, John 5:19, Psalm 37:3-7, 2 Corinthians 12:9
Father God, I come to You recognizing that apart from You, I can do nothing. Help me to abide in Christ, to remain connected to the true Vine, so that my life bears fruit that honors You. Teach me to trust in You with all my heart and not to lean on my own understanding. In all my ways, I want to acknowledge You and invite You to direct my
paths.
Reading the Word
Bible verses: Psalm 119:105, Joshua 1:8
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word, which is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Help me to treasure Your Scriptures and meditate on them day and night. (continued) Give me a heart that delights in doing what You have commanded so that my steps are guided by Your truth. Lead me, Lord, and let Your Word light my way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Healing
Bible verses: Isaiah 53:5, Psalm 103:2-3, Jeremiah 30:17,
and James 5:14-15
Lord Jesus, thank You that by Your wounds we are healed. I bless You and remember all Your benefits—You forgive my sins and heal all my diseases. I trust in Your promise to restore my health and heal my wounds. When I am sick, I come before You in faith, asking for Your healing touch, knowing that the prayer of faith will make the sick person well. Thank You for being my Healer and Restorer. In Your name, Amen
Prayer for Authorities and Government
Bible verses: Romans 13:1-2, Romans 13:4
Heavenly Father, Your Word teaches that all authority is established by You. I pray for those in positions of leadership and government that they would serve with wisdom, justice, and humility. Help me to honor and respect those You have placed in authority,
and may they be agents of good for those they serve. Guide their decisions for the welfare and peace of our nation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Prayer for Creation and Stewardship
Bible verses: Genesis 2:15, Psalm 104, Romans 8:19-22,
Colossians 1:16
Creator God, thank You for entrusting us with the care of Your creation. I praise You for the beauty and diversity of the world You have made—every creature, every landscape, all declaring Your glory. I acknowledge that all things were created through Christ and for Him, and I confess that creation itself longs for redemption. Help me to honor You by being a faithful steward of what You have given, caring for the earth and all its creatures. May my actions reflect Your purpose and bring praise to Jesus, through whom all things exist. In Jesus’ name, Amen
Prayer for God’s Presence, Power, and Authority
Bible verses: Exodus 19:16-18, 2 Chronicles 20:22,
Acts 2:2-4, Matthew 8:23-27
Almighty God, just as You descended on Mount Sinai with thunder, lightning, and power, I invite Your holy presence to fill my life and transform the atmosphere around me. Let Your glory shake every place I go. Lord, just as Your people lifted their voices in worship and praise and You brought victory, fill my heart with praise and turn back every enemy that rises against me. Holy Spirit, come like a rushing wind and tongues of fire—fill me afresh, change my spiritual climate, and empower me to live boldly for You. Lord Jesus, You have authority over every storm—natural and spiritual. Speak peace into every area of my life and bring breakthroughs where I need it most. May Your presence, praise, and power reign in my heart, home, and community. In Jesus’name, Amen.
Prayer for Bitterness vs. Forgiveness
Bible verses: 2 Cor. 2:10-11, Luke 6:36, Eph.4:31-32, Romans 2:4
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for the riches of Your kindness, forbearance, and patience, knowing that Your kindness has led me to repentance (Romans 2:4). I confess that I have not extended that same patience and kindness toward those who have hurt or offended me. Instead I have held on to my anger, bitterness, and resentment toward them. Please bring to my mind all the people I need to forgive in order that I may do so. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Overcoming Pride
Bible verses: Proverbs 16:18; Matthew 6:33; 16:24;
Romans 12:10; Philippians. 2:3.
Dear Heavenly Father, You have said that pride goes before destruction and an arrogant spirit before stumbling. I confess that I have focused on my own needs and desires and not others. I have not always denied myself, picked up my cross daily and followed You. I have relied on my own strength and resources instead of resting in Yours. I have placed my will before Yours and centered my life around myself instead of You. I confess my pride and selfishness and pray that all ground gained in my life by the enemies of the Lord
Jesus Christ would be canceled. I choose to rely upon the Holy Spirit’s power and guidance so that I will do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit. With humility of mind, I choose to regard others as more important than myself. I acknowledge You as my Lord and confess that apart from You I can do nothing of lasting significance. Please examine my heart and show me the specific ways I have lived my life in pride. In the gentle and humble name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
A Daily Prayer
Bible verses: Acts 19:18-20, 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, Romans 12:2, Galatians 2:20, James 1:5
Dear Heavenly Father, I praise You and honor You as my Lord and Savior. You are in control of all things. I thank You that You are always with me and will never leave me nor forsake me. You are the only all-powerful and only wise God. You are kind and loving in all Your ways. I love You and thank You that I am united with Christ and spiritually alive in Him. I choose not to love the world or the things in the world, and I crucify the flesh and all its passions. Thank You for the life I now have in Christ. I ask You to fill me with the Holy Spirit so I can be guided by You and not carry out the desires of the flesh. I declare my total dependence upon You, and I take my stand against Satan and all his lying ways. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Overcoming Weakness
Bible verses: Hebrews 10:19, Joel 3:10, Psalm 72:4
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for the blood of Jesus Christ. Through the blood of Jesus , I am justified, sanctified and made holy with God’s holiness. I thank you that the blood of Jesus reenergizes, revitalizes, reactivities, revives and resets all dead potentials and spiritual gifts within me. Those things that died within me last season, that were ordained to live, are being resurrected today. Let every stubborn strongman assigned against me fall to the ground and become powerless to hinder me or my family. I pray that every unusual door of blessing and favor opens in my life today that will change the rest of my life. I declare that every spirit attempting to operate against me and my family is defeated. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
Dominion and Victory
Bible verses:Romans 12:2 Revelation 22:16, Revelation 12:15-16,
1 Corinthians 15:57, 1 John 5:4
God Almighty,Thank you for giving us the victory as conquerors through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One. I decree that this is the day of blessings, and fruitfulness. Thank you Lord for binding up and off of my life every spirit of hope that is deferred, discouraging and lacks expectation. I pray for the restoration of dominion over creation as God intended and that I will walk in dominion in every area of my life as God intended. I decree that Jesus will rise and shine in my life, heart, ministry, family, city, region and nation as the bright and morning star. Lord, I ask that you arise in greater measure. Lord I pray and declare my heart is open that you arise, Lord, in me! In Jesus’s Name - Amen
